Sigsworth Family Tree

Like her husband Francis SHEARD we know very little about Rachel and until we have the opportunity to actually visit the Borthwick Institute in York where all the relevant Parish Records are held ourselves we are unlikely to find out more. The details in the family tree above were obtained by using the International Genealogical Index ® (IGI) from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which can now be searched online at http://www.familysearch.org

We had a search done by the Borthwick Institute of the parish registers of Sutton on the Forest for the marriage of Rachel SHEARD that we had found on the IGI and they found the following:

Christopher HAMMON of the parish of Sutton on the Forest widower and Rachel SHEARD of the same parish widow in church by banns 27 August 1810. Witnesses: Edward SIGSWORTH and John ROWNTREE. Borthwick Institute Ref: (PR SUT/F4)

We have subsequently found a reference on the familysearch website of a Birth & Christening for a Sarah HAMMON, born 23 June 1811, christened 15 September 1811 in Sutton on the Forest. Parents are recorded as Christopher HAMMON and Rachel SIGSWORTH.
