Hannah Eliza SHEARD 1834 – 1891
Very little is known about Hannah other than her appearances in the Census returns and from her death certificate although she first came to light after an Aunt and her daughter visited Norwood Cemetery with the intention of locating the “family tomb”. She had a memory of people talking about the “family tomb” and decided to go and find it. After grudging assistance from cemetery staff, they were given a plot number, and an approximate area where the grave of Joseph Sheard might be. They eventually found the overgrown grave, and to their surprise there was a second headstone stating that there was a third person in the grave, Annie Eliza Sheard. Subsequent investigations of the death certificate, LDS information and data from the 1881 census (the only census index available at the time) has resulted in the conclusion that Annie Eliza Sheard, and Hannah Eliza Sheard were the same person, of course the subsequent provision of all the Censuses online has confirmed this.
From the 1871 Census we found:

There were 64 pupils also listed plus 21 other staff & their families.
