Francis SHEARD 1801 to 1876

So we then looked for the family on the 1841 census:

Francis Sheard 1841 CensusAs can be seen the eldest daughter Hannah Eliza does not appear with the rest of the family, after a lengthy search we finally found her with who we suppose is her grandmother & 2 aunts:

Hannah Sheard 1841 CensusThe 1841 census is the least informative of the Victorian census records as no relationships were recorded or condition as to marriage and place of birth was only recorded as either born in county (Y or N) or whether born in Scotland (S), Ireland (I) or Foreign Parts (F), finally and crucially ages were recorded down to the nearest five for those aged 15 or over although of course some ages were apparently recorded without rounding.

Anyway from the census we see that two of the children, Francis & Edward, were born after the start of Civil Registration in 1837 so we need some time to obtain copies of their birth certificates to confirm the details but it seems just a formality.
